I work primarily with wax and clay to begin an artwork that eventually results out of numerous coordinated processes — first making, then multiplying, then welding and assembly; my own comprehension of bronze as a working medium is tinged with both expectation and hope. The plastic nature of bronze is employed to stretch the human figure into a restless elongation and formlessness, and at times to bring a satirical state of wonder into the composition. Ideas impossible in reality become the subject of sculpture — a photographer raised on a stick for a selfie, hooded and cloaked figures in motion, Adam and Eve like worms attacking an apple — the idea is to subvert the daily tedium of life into a new perspective.

The white box offers the convenience of a complete work station, a three foot cube that encapsulates the essential paraphernalia of a private study. Its movable side panel is hinged to allow entrance to the enclosed seat which gives easy access to interior shelves for books, and documents, with side slots for files and laptop, built in projections for a lamp, a hidden compartment for secret papers. The upper flap of the cube unfolds to become a work table.

How does a box become the complete repository in the life of a child. The Box Room is life in miniature, a life yet to grow. It unfolds in three layers, at first a shelf for books, toys and games, hinged alongside a cup-board, hanging space, folding space drawers and small compartments for clothes, uniforms, socks and belts; and finally a study table for the long brooding hours of homework; which once completed converts to bunk bed. The desk chair doubles as a ladder for the climb up to mattress. A four foot cubical house for all the needs of a child's room.

Two halves of a curved wooden lounge are hinged together and open out to form the complete lounge chair. As the box drops away it does not only reveal the chair in a pose of lazy recline, but also provides built in places for restful nourishment – shelves for books, space for a hideaway lamp and mini fridge, and at its corner a cache of secret drawers for precious memorabilia, stolen jewellery, and forbidden snacks.
